Playing With Perspective

I was perusing Black*Eiffel today and came across this brilliant Cold Play video done by Shynola. Watching it made me think about just how many artists I've seen lately that are playing around with perspective. I've already talked at length about Robin Rhode. Jan von Holleben's Dreams
of Flying Series comes to mind too. So, I thought I'd gather them up for you to look at all together. (Oops, the video quit working but you can find it on YouTube.)

A Brand New Print And Fashion Confessions

Here is the brand new silhouette print that I added to my shop. It's called The Lesson. I just love images that tell a piece of a story but you have to guess at the rest. This silhouette does exactly that. I can't help but wonder what the lady is teaching them and why those little rabbits are so attentive.
In other news, the lovely Tara from Nothing Elegant put out another tag asking readers to list 8 fashion confessions. So here goes...
  1. I never wear sunscreen (I stole this one from Tara). I do wear makeup with a little SPF protection. Does that count?
  2. Whenever I buy something nice, I have the unfortunate tendency to put it away and save it for a special occasion. There is sits, waiting...and waiting...and waiting...
  3. I am allergic to lipstick and lipgloss. My lips have to stay a pale, unadorned pink.
  4. I never wear heels. In fact, I don't know how to walk in them. I am currently trying to correct this. I'm starting with wedges and then I'll work my way up to chunky heels.
  5. I don't buy expensive shoes. I just can't see my way to spending a bunch of money on something that goes on my feet and comes in contact with the ground.
  6. I am a big procrastinator when it comes to getting my hair cut. Luckily, I'm growing it out right now so I don't have to worry.
  7. I love the idea of hats but I never wear them. I can't quite figure out how to pull it off.
  8. I never paint my fingernails. It's too fussy and it always chips anyway.
There. Glad that's off my chest.

Tag! You're It!

I recently got tagged by the lovely Tara from Nothing Elegant to name 5 things that make me happy. It is hard to narrow it down to only five but here goes-
My Family

The three best things in my world.

My Garden

I absolutely love my garden. Not a day goes by that I don't go outside and check on all my flowers. There is nothing like planting something and watching it grow and blossom right before your eyes.

Art

Art is such a huge part of my life. If I am not making it then I am reading about it, looking at it, talking about it or helping my children to make some of their own.

A Good Book

I am a voracious reader. A little known fact about me-I actually get a bit blue if I don't have a good book to read.

Food

(photo via ffffound)

I love to eat. I'm pretty much a meat and pototoes gal and always have been. I also have quite a powerful sweet tooth.

Now I'm tagging Looking Lovely and The Fab Miss B . What makes you happy?

A Nod From The Fab Miss B

The Captain has been oh, so busy these days. Now he has found his way to The Fab Miss B's blog where he is contentedly hanging in a study near a giant antique globe and plenty of Jacques Cousteau books.

Rainy Day Post

It's been a rainy, stormy day here and it was much needed. It was a nice change of pace, after all this sun, to stay inside and be cozy. We whipped up a batch of rice crispy treats and curled up on the couch to watch a movie. In honor of all this precipitation, I decided to post some of my favorite rain-inspired artwork on Etsy. (All photo credits belong to each shop.)

The Raincoat by Fifilapin is my absolute favorite. Love the simplicity and those darling yellow buttons.
Mademoiselle UnderThe Rain by Blancucha is sweet and simple.

Take Shelter by Ashleyg is a soft tumble of color. If only real rain could look like this.
And, finally, if you're not having any rain where you are you can go to this site by lullatone to play their raindrop melody maker. It's beautiful and addictively fun.

A Little Birdie Told Me

Here are the brand new notecards in my shop. A graceful swallow flies over a blue patterned background carrying a letter in its beak. These are available individually and as a set of 6 right here.

Custom Pet Portraits

Last month I had the pleasure of doing two custom pet portraits for a wonderful customer. They turned out quite lovely, if I do say so myself. So, I thought I'd share them. If anyone out there would like a portrait of their little pet, or knows someone who would, please do not hesitate to stop by my shop.
