That's Cracker Jack!

COSI, our science museum, is one of the best in the country. We've spent so many hours there playing, learning and exploring. Out of all the high tech gadgetry, the bells and whistles, my favorite spot to visit is an almost forgotten exhibit tucked away in a small corner.
It's the Cracker Jack display.
The backlit glass cases house dozens and dozens of the old Cracker Jack prizes that used to come inside the boxes (and still do). You can see for yourself just how wonderful they are.

We were lucky enough to get to watch as they assembled this last piece.
Phenomenal.

The Fall

The movie The Fall is a mixed bag. Parts of it are wonderful. Parts of it are terrible.
The ending, to me, does not satisfy.
But one thing that I can say for sure is that it is beautiful.
I find myself returning to it simply to soak in the remarkable scenery, costumes and visual effects.
Plus, the little girl in it is absolutely outstanding. Watch the second video if you don't believe me.

I've Got A Golden Ticket

One of our favorite movie theaters, Studio 35, runs a children's summer movie series. The last movie of the summer was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I love this movie, however, I wasn't certain that my 5 year old would feel the same. It has some awfully creepy parts, especially the tunnel scene. However, we decided to brave it.

Turns out, my son didn't even make it to the tunnel part. One glimpse of Augustus Gloop getting stuck in the pipe and he let out a wail. So, we took him to the lobby to calm down, thus missing the scary tunnel scene. I thought we would be okay but, no. Violet turning into a blueberry was his undoing. He'd had enough of Willy Wonka and his chocolate factory.

Oh well, maybe when he's a little older he'll be able to appreciate it.

Some Like It Hot

Some Like It Hot is one of my favorite movies. It's sweet, romantic, hilarious and full of wonderful fashion.
Plus, it has Marilyn.
Here are a few ways to make the look yours.

Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall

We said goodbye to summer yesterday with a good old-fashioned cook out. We had hot dogs, baked beans and fresh lemonade, to name just a few.
Then, when the cool of the evening came, we said hello to fall with a fire, roasted marshmallows and hot, spiced apple cider.
