Eggs, Chocolate and World Domination

This Easter we were all recovering from the flu so we stayed home and celebrated quietly. The Easter Bunny hid eggs and left basketfuls of candy that were devoured. He also left the game Risk. That's how we ended up spending the entire morning and part of the afternoon vying for world domination. I played with an "all in", Napoleonic attitude and quickly regretted it. I was left defending Australia, my only conquest, and was succinctly squashed. The game is meant for children 10 and older. My son is 7 and he beat both my husband and I by a great margin. And he has not stopped talking about it since.

A Ghostly Encounter

While in St. Augustine we took a walking ghost tour. First, I have to apologize for the crummy pictures. We were in such a rush that I forgot my camera and had to make do with a cheap disposable one. The pictures leave much to be desired. The tour, itself, was a lot of fun. It started off at the sufficiently creepy Spanish millitary hospital and then continued on around town. There were two very old cemetaries that housed oak trees hung with spanish moss, former mortuaries that are now bed and breakfasts and an old millitary fort. We didn't see any ghosts but we heard a lot of macabre stories-an exploding corpse, people accidentally buried alive and a honeymoon suite that used to be an embalming room(They don't tell their customers). All in all, a fun and spooky experience.

A Wild Preview

Okay, I tried posting this before and it didn't work out. I hope it does this time. I think this looks amazing. There seem to be quite a few changes from the book but the wild things look perfect and so does Max's suit!

A Little Bit Of Heaven

Sorry that it has been so long between posts. It's always hard to get back into the swing of things after a vacation. Florida was wonderful. Being on the beach was absolute heaven and St. Augustine is such an amazing town. We fell in love with it. We spent our time there exploring all of the lovely little shops, cafes and museums. It's a town that is brimming with charm and history. The last picture shows the amazing restaurant, Harry's, where we had dinner. We sat outside under flowering trees lit with Christmas lights and ate by candlight. Afterward we took a carriage ride tour of the town. On our last night, we took a walking ghost tour which was both lovely and creepy. I don't have my pictures of the tour ready yet so I'll have another post devoted just to that. Sunshine State, Here I Come

At the end of this week, my husband has a business meeting in Florida. I get to tag along and I couldn't be happier! Above is one of my lenticular pins that I kept for myself. When you move it, the other image says "Florida The Sunshine State". Little did I know how soon I would be headed there. I simply cannot wait to see the ocean and breath in that salty air!

Brand New Stuff

I've been a busy bee adding things to my shop lately. First, are these adorable lenticular pins. They are one of a kind vintage and the image changes when you move them. I had two others but they were snatched up already. Second, is my brand new silhouette print Of The Same Mind. I really love how this one turned out. I'm hoping to do some more silhouettes but I'm not sure how soon I can get to them. It's going to be a very busy week around here. My son is on Spring Break which means way less time for me to work. I'm also heading out of town at the end of the week for a few days at the beach! Hooray!

I Can't Wait

When I first heard that they were making a live action movie of Where The Wild Things Are, I couldn't imagine how they would pull it off. But then I saw some of the productions stills and I was sold. You can look at them here. My absolute favorite is the one of Max running through the forest with the Wild Things. It looks magical, just like the book. I cannot count how many times I have read the book to both of my boys-enough times that they memorized it. And like everyone (I think everyone else does this, at least I hope so) we would "roar our terrible roars, gnash our terrible teeth, roll our terrible eyes and show our terrible claws". I can't wait to take them to see this.

Future Doctors

My children found this Simpson's Operation game in the basement covered with dust. We cleaned it off and brought it upstairs. My youngest son thinks that the entire point of the game is to make the buzzer go off. It was a very noisy couple of hours. I wouldn't be surprised if this game mysteriously disappears into the basement again.
