I'm putting them all on my "Need To Read" list. I don't think that I could ever come up with just one favorite book but right at the top of my list would be The Borrowers Series by Mary Norton. Even though they are children's books they are detailed and rather sophisticated in their style. By the end of the last book you feel like one of the family. Getting Lost In A Good Book

Kites and Caterpillars

Last Saturday was warm and windy. Perfect for kite flying and bug finding. This furry little caterpillar kept my boys busy for quite awhile. The adorable mini-kite above is from Hearth Song and I can't say enough good things about it. It is small, inexpensive, portable and so easy to use. Just hold them out and let the wind take them up. Singing "Oh, Let's Fly A Kite" from Mary Poppins is optional.

When Life Gives You Lemons

A few weeks ago I was itching to try this recipe for candied lemon peel that came highly recommended by Heidi of My Paper Crane. We make quite a bit of lemonade at our house so it seemed practical to make use of all those lemon peels instead of wasting them. My littlest son was my sous chef. I expected a huge mess but he did it as if he'd been making candy his whole life. The result was delicious!! The only change I made to the recipe was that I sliced the peel off pell mell instead of making neat little pieces simply because it was quicker and easier. We can't wait to make it again.
