Belated Halloween Post

Halloween was quite a success this year. We spookied up the house to great effect and carved some wonderful pumpkins. (Mine's the classic one.) My two little knights braved the cold to collect lots of treats. Afterwards, we were treated to an outdoor showing of It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown at our neighbor's. I truly love our neighborhood.

The School

I've had this song by The School in my head all day long. I love it's cool 60's feel.

Last Movie in the Halloween Marathon

Our movie marathon was rather short this Halloween. But the last one, Lake Mungo, was a great one. I'd never seen it before and was pleasantly surprised with how smart and creepy it was.
Slow and atmospheric, you're never quite sure where this movie is going.
There are lots of strange twists and turns and plenty of scary moments.

Dia De Los Muertos

Today is the Dia de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead.
Next year, I'm going to try and remember to order some of these delightful calaveras de azucar.

Trick 'r Treat

We watched Trick 'r Treat for the first time this year and we will definitely be watching it again next year.
It's a bit hard to describe.
It's a horror movie but also something of a dark comedy.
It's sort of a light-hearted horror movie, if you can imagine such a thing.
What I loved is how quintessentially Halloween the scenery is.
Each scene is full of fall leaves, jack-o-lanterns, and old fashioned costumes.
A lot of fun to watch.

This little video is so bizarre but also completely adorable. I think the title says it all.

Let The Halloween Movie Marathon Begin

Our Halloween movie marathon got off to a bit of a late start this year. There just never seems to be enough time to fit everything in.
However, we got it off to a fine start with the original 1963 version of The Haunting.
This is one of the best scary movies I have ever seen.
It is suspenseful and frightening with out any gore.
Way ahead of its time.
I highly recommend it.

Pirates All!

I have a passion for vintage boardgames.
Not only are they much more beautiful than modern ones, they are also more fun and more educational.
Santa left Pirate and Traveler under the Christmas tree last year and it has quickly become one of our favorites.
And the best part is that you get to yell "Pirates all!"
Who wouldn't love that?
